Pink or Blue

Prospective mums - discover the gender of your child within the first 8 weeks of your pregnancy! The Pink or Blue test only requires a small blood sample, and results are available within 4 days. The most accurate method of prenatal gender determination.

Prenatal gender testing entails the detection and characterization of minute quantities of foetal cellular material, which is released into the maternal bloodstream as part of normal foetal development. The human Y-chromosome is only found in males. Pink or Blue looks for Y-chromosomal DNA in the mother’s blood using a common laboratory technique called  Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) that can amplify small amounts of DNA to easily detectable levels. A Y-chromosome will only be present in the sample if the baby is a boy, since the mother does not carry the Y-chromosome herself. If no Y-DNA is detected, the mother is expecting a baby girl. The analysis is rapid, non-invasive, and requires only a small maternal blood sample. The extreme sensitivity of the test allows detection of foetal DNA as early as the 8th week of pregnancy.
